Hello all!
Here at EGF we have been staying busy during the hot summer months and we're excited to share our first newsletter and to talk about what we have cooking behind the scenes.
We have partnered with Games for Change, which was hosted July 12-14. The 2021 Games for Change featured developers, educators, students and researchers and cover a wide variety of topics. This festival connected over 10,000 people worldwide to explore the future of social impact and immersive media. Learn more here.
COLLEGE NEWS
We're gearing up for EGFC Season 3!
This upcoming season, we're adding CS:GO and Chess to our lineup while continuing withRocket League, Overwatch, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and FIFA. Keep your eyes out for more announcements as we get closer to October 4th and be sure to subscribe to our Twitch to make sure you don't miss these exciting broadcasts!
35 DI colleges and universities competed in Season 2 but a few stood out in the championships!
We hosted our first Esports Summit on June 30th
Division I educators and administrators gathered to discuss what it takes to launch and sustain a comprehensive esports program within higher education. Our speakers provided a lot of great insight and we look forward to hosting more events like this in the future!
HIGH SCHOOL NEWS
Thank you to all of our High School members for an incredible 2020-2021 season!
Sign ups for EGFH Season 9 are live!!
Overwatch, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Rocket League and Chess will all be offered to compete in during this season. This season, we continued our partnership with Disney and ESPN to bring you these awesome shows and are looking forward to working more with them in the upcoming seasons.
The competition was fierce, but we are proud to announce the victors of the 2021 EGF High School National Championships in collaboration with Disney and ESPN.
During our spring season, we partnered with the Special Olympics to develop a Unified Program in New Jersey called EGFH Unified.
This program is projected to expand within the state in season 9 and eventually spread to other parts of the U.S. following its success. You can read more about the Unified program here.
We're launching a middle school esports program this Fall.

On July 1, Seton Hall University hired Victor Gomez as their full time esports manager.
This is the full time position within esports management that has opened up within the BIG EAST Conference. Huge congratulations to Victor and you can read more about this news here.
The era of NIL in collegiate athletics has officially begun.
On the same day, the NCAA signed an agreement that allows collegiate players freedom to sign individual marketing deals, endorse sponsorships, among other things. This agreement is known as NIL. While this is huge news for collegiate sports players, it could also be the grounds for collegiate esports players to be opened to new opportunities not only within their schools but outside as well.
