EGF Announces Expanded EGFC League Season Two

32 D-I Varsity Collegiate Programs To Participate In Multi-Title, 16 Week Season

New York, NY (October 5, 2020) Today, the Electronic Gaming Federation (EGF) kicks off the EGFC League Season 2, now expanded to 32 elite teams vying for National Championships across four game titles. The BIG EAST recently joined the Metro Atlantic Conference (MAAC) and additional schools to expand the League to 32 D-I schools this fall.

The EGFC League Season 2 begins Monday, October 5 and features nationwide intercollegiate competition in two eight-week splits as well as conference championships, regional playoffs and the EGFC National Championship to be held April 24-25, 2021. Expanded titles include: Rocket League, Overwatch, SSBU and FIFA. Broadcasts of all matches will be streamed across EGF’s 5 Twitch channels as well as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter as well as BIG EAST YouTube.

BIG EAST Conference: Butler UniversityDePaul UniversityGeorgetown University, Marquette University, Providence College, Seton Hall University, St. John's University, University of Connecticut, Villanova University, Xavier University

Metro American Conference: Canisius College, Fairfield University, Iona College, Manhattan College, Marist College, Monmouth University, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, Rider University, Saint Peter's University Siena College

EASTERN CONFERENCE: College of William & Mary, Hofstra University, Mississippi State University, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Delaware, University of North Dakota

WESTERN CONFERENCE: San Jose State University, University of Colorado, University of Hawaii, UT Arlington, Wichita State University

The esports (competitive video games) has generated more than $1 billion globally in 2019 and is expanding exponentially throughout 2020. By 2022, the growth of esports from a competition and viewer standpoint is expected to exceed 300 million participants. Division I collegiate programs began in earnest in 2015 and now feature more than 100 teams in the U.S.
