DePaul University, Niagara University, And St. John’s University Continue Esports Tradition With Second Annual Vincentian Cup

New York, January 18, 2022-  The Electronic Gaming Federation, the national governing body for formalized collegiate D-I esports and high school level leagues, today announced that three of their partner schools, St. John’s University, DePaul University, and Niagara University will continue the tradition of the Vincentian Cup, an annual esports invitational for Vincentian Universities. 

“DePaul is very excited to participate in this second iteration of the Vincentian Cup.  The first one in 2020 was a unique opportunity to combine our students’ passion for Esports with our shared Vincentian mission" said Courtney James of DePaul University. " These factors, in combination with EGF’s high quality production standards, created a memorable event for our students and viewers and we look forward to the 2022 tournament.”

Produced by the Electronic Gaming Federation, the Vincentian Cup is a multi-day round robin tournament celebrating the mission and communities of the three Vincentian Universities across the United States. across two titles with the grand finals for each title being held on January 22nd and January 23rd. 

 

“The Vincentian Cup is a unique opportunity for our three organizations to come together and bring awareness to St. Vincent de Paul’s mission through friendly eSports competition. We hope to continue this venture going forward and make it a yearly tradition” said Luis Ramos of St. John’s University.

 

“Niagara is eager to participate in this fun event again this year with our fellow Vincentian institutions. DePaul and St. John’s have tremendous Esports programs and we are excited to be collaborating with their administration and student leaders on their campuses to promote Esports and promote our shared mission.” said Bill Newton of Niagara University.
